Flémalle

A land of history, Flémalle can be discovered through its castles and museums. From prehistory to the industrial revolution, the past has left its mark on the town.
Flémalle - Prehistomuseum
The recently renovated Préhistomuseum is a 30-hectare museum located in the Forêt de la Grotte de Ramioul woods. Twelve unique permanent exhibitions allow visitors of all ages to explore nature, heritage and science through the ages.

The Fort of Flémalle.
Built by Brialmont in 1880, during the First World War, the Fort of Flémalle was the theatre of the resistance to the German invaders. Following the threat of suffering the same fate as Loncin, which fell the day before, the surrender was declared here on 16th August 1914. Thus preserved, it was nevertheless modified by the German troops to further reinforce it. Today, visitors can roam along the 1,700 metres of tunnels that link the fort to its tower.

Focusing on more modern times, art lovers will find their heart’s delight at the La Chataigneraie, the Walloon centre of modern art. Within a 100-km radius, you can discover a wide range of exhibitions and events.
