Liège By Night

Where to go out in Liège? Drink, eat, laugh and dance!
When you think of Liège, you immediately think of parties, nightlife and conviviality...
And rightly so! Because Liège is certainly where you'll find that unique atmosphere that all Belgians know so well.

Michelin-starred restaurants, local specialities, street food, cocktail bars, microbreweries, food courts, roof tops, student bars, terraces and a full range of cultural activities make Liège an undeniably festive nightlife destination!

Discover the most festive neighbourhoods in this inspiration.
Le Carré?: This is THE student and party district.
Where to eat and drink in Liège-le carré
The city's largest concentration of bars can be found in this group of narrow, historic pedestrian streets. Most of them are student bars. These alleys are literally packed from Thursday to Saturday evenings, as well as during major student festivals such as Saint-Nicolas and Saint-Toré.

Place Cathédrale

In the heart of the shopping district is the place Cathédrale and its adjacent streets (Rue Saint-Paul, rue Soeurs-de-Hasque, rue Bonne Fortune,...) brimming with cosy cafés and typical or hip restaurants which make for an ideal stop from shopping or on the way to visit the historic centre.
In the winter, the place Cathédrale sports its Christmas look with myriads of chalets and a large outdoor ice-skating rink.
In the summer, a short stroll takes you to place Saint-Paul where every year from mid-June to 14 July, Liège becomes French with its now famous Village Gaulois, its outstanding wines and pétanque players.

Place du Marché

The perfect setting for a drink? In the most picturesque square of Liège. In the shade of the Perron and century-old trees, facing the City Hall, this square is lined with terraces, cafés, and excellent restaurants.
At the first hint of sunshine, terraces swarm with Liège inhabitants flaunting their new summer clothes and sunglasses. The extravagant drinks and cocktails of the summertime are replaced by heated outdoor seating and the acclaimed mulled wine in the winter.

This is also where the annual Christmas Village is organised.
Event in the rue Roture in Liège

In rotation

The “lions cage” composed of metal gates sets the tone for this remarkable street! The rue Roture is highly picturesque with narrow, pedestrian, and typical Mosan Renaissance style architecture. It’s lined with restaurants, cafés, upbeat cultural venues and has become a thriving spot for nightlife in Liège. A fun, bustling street which becomes doubly vibrant during the festivities on the 15 August!
Original terraces
Liège has recently seen the emergence of some original terraces where you can enjoy a drink.
